The 2000 C / CA / CS was introduced in 1965, and was discontinued in 1968. During the four year long production run close to 14 000 cars were built. Today, I estimate that fewer then 1000 remain as driveable cars in the world.

The latest figure I've heard is that about ten cars in decent, drivable, condition exists in Sweden. Probably there are quite a few more undergoing restoration or (sadly) in various stages of decay in old barns and garages.

In you own a 2000 coupe and live in Scandinavia, please drop me a mail and tell me about your car!

The BMW New Class was a line of compact sedans launched with the 1962 1500. The four-cylinder BMW M10 engine used in these cars grew over the years from 1.5 to 1.6, 1.8, and 2.0 L with the names changing to reflect this.

The New Class models featured a fully independent suspension with MacPherson struts in front and front disc brakes.

The sedan models (with numbers ending in "0") were replaced by the larger BMW 5 Series in 1972. The '02 series is not part of the New Class. The upscale 2000C and 2000CS coupes were replaced by the six-cylinder BMW E9 coupes, introduced in 1969 with the 2800CS.

1955 BMW Isetta

BMW made the Isetta its own. They redesigned the powerplant around a more reliable BMW one-cylinder, four-stroke, 247 cc motorcycle engine making 13 hp. Although the major elements of the Italian design remained intact, BMW re-engineered much of the car, so much so that none of the parts between a BMW Isetta Moto Coupe and an Iso Isetta are interchangeable. The first BMW Isetta appeared in April, 1955.

BMW Isetta 250

While it retained the "Bubble Window" styling, it differed from the Italian model in that its headlamps were fixed separately to the sides of the bodywork and it carried the BMW badge below the windscreen. The car was also redesigned to take a modified version of the 250 cc 4-stroke engine from the BMW R25/3 motorcycle and the front suspension was changed. The single-cylinder generated 12 hp at 5800 rpm. The crankcase and cylinder were made of cast iron, the cylinder head of aluminium. However, the head was rotated by 180 degrees compared with the motorcycle engine. The twin-bearing crankshaft was also different in the Isetta power unit, being larger and featuring reinforced bearings. One of the reasons for this was the heavy Dynastart unit which combined the dynamo and self-starter. The fuel mixture was provided by a Bing sliding throttle side draft motorcycle carburettor. In addition to further changes of detail, the BMW engineers enlarged the sump for installation in the car and cooled the engine by means of a radial fan and shrouded ducting.

The BMW 507 was the brainchild of BMW importer Max Hoffman, who in 1954 persuaded the BMW management to produce a roadster version of the BMW 502 that could compete with Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz sports cars. Hoffman pushed for designer Count Albrecht von Goertz, who also designed the contemporary BMW 503, as the designer, over existing designs by Ernst Loof, whose sketches Hoffman felt were not commercially viable. Goertz was hired by BMW in November 1954. BMW engineer Fritz Friedler was assigned to design the mechanical package, using existing components wherever possible.

Stylish, oriented to the future, authentic: each model in the BMW 6 Series is a fascinating personality on four wheels. The BMW 6 Series CoupĂ© continues the tradition of BMW’s highly successful sports cars with exceptional refinement and culture, offering the modern interpretation of a classic Gran Turismo. The BMW 6 Series Convertible, in turn, is already acknowledged as the epitome of luxurious and, at the same time, highly dynamic driving pleasure in an open 2+2 seater.
Now introducing new editions of both models, BMW is further sharpening the individual profile of both the Coupé and Convertible, both cars now boasting a design language able to convey its messages even more clearly thanks to specific refinements to the last detail.
The range of engines combines superior dynamics with modern efficiency – not only through the addition of the most sporting and powerful 3.0-litre straight-six diesel in the world to this outstanding model range.

Prominently displayed inside BMW’s new hall was a 1960 BMW 502 2.6 Luxus. In 1954, the 502 sedan became Germany’s first V-8-powered car. Its predecessor, the six-cylinder 501, was the company’s first new model after the war. Under the hood, the 502 has a pushrod aluminum 2.6-liter V-8 that makes 100 hp at 4800 rpm. Enlarged to 3.2 liters, the 502’s V-8 powered the famous and rare 507 roadster. In the 3100-pound 502, the engine provided a top speed of 100 mph making it one of the quicker sedans of its day. Known as the “baroque angel” because of its glitzy styling, the 502 at the show represents the pinnacle of BMW luxury circa 1960 and could be considered the great-grandfather of today’s 7-series.

Coming back to the Barockengel, it was a 6-cylinder car. After 1954, there was also a V8 version called the BMW 502, which had a larger rear-glass (or backlight in proper English).
The 6-cyl BMW 501 had an inline 1971 cc six-cylinder OHV motor, driving the rear axle through a 4-sp. gearbox.

The BMW 328 was a sports car made by BMW between 1936 and 1940, designed by Fritz Fiedler. It featured many advanced features for its time such as a tubular space frame and a hemispherical combustion chamber engine. It was much praised at the time for its performance and handling. The car won many races including the prestigious Mille Miglia — a class win in 1938 and the outright winner (with a streamlined body) in 1940. It also won the RAC Rally in 1939 and came in fifth overall (first in its class) in the 1939 Le Mans 24 hours.
